This article is a literature review based on previous studies on using Kahoot! as a digital game-based learning strategy. Previous research studies found that in game-based learning strategy in language learning, students showed enjoyment, motivation, and concentration when using this strategy. Thus, the use of Kahoot! Especially in digital game-based learning increases students’ engagement and offers several benefits in learning sessions. In general, Kahoot! can be accessed using email, and then you can design the questions and activities you want to use. In terms of benefits, Kahoot! Standar buku teks pelajaran memiliki aspek isi, bahasa, penyajian dan kegrafikan.Salah satu fungsi dasar buku teks adalah menyediakan pengetahuan secara sistematis sehingga dapat dengan mudah dipelajari oleh peserta didik dengan cara yang mudah dan teratur. Penggunaan buku ajar ini dapat menjamin bahwa peserta didik didalam kelas yang berbeda akan mendapatkan konten yang serupa sehingga dapat dinilai dengan cara yang sama. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bahwa kualitas buku ajar sesuai persyaratan buku teks Bahasa Inggris yang baik dan untuk memudahkan guru sebagai pengguna buku teks untuk memeriksa buku teks yang digunakan saat ini. Berdasarkan ketujuh aspek penilaian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa buku teks <em>“</em>Bahasa Inggris<em> Work in Progress” </em>cukup baik tetapi tidak terlalu direkomendasikan karena skor totalnya adalah 108 (di bawah 110). Berdasarkan analisis tujuan dan pendekatan, buku teks yang dipilih memenuhi program pengajaran. Penataan kontennya rapi dan terorganisir, serta setiap bagian dari konten bahasa diberikan dengan jelas dan mudah dibedakan.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong><em>An analysis of the textbook entitled </em></strong><strong><em>“Bahasa Inggris Work in Progress.”</em></strong></p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Abstract</strong>: Textbooks are one of the important teaching materials in teaching and learning activities, especially for teachers who are not able or ready to make teaching materials independently based on textbook writing standards. Textbook standards have aspects of content, language, presentation, and graphics. One of the basic functions of textbooks is to provide knowledge systematically so that learners can easily learn it in an easy and orderly way. The use of these textbooks can guarantee that students in different classes will get similar content so that it can be assessed in the same way. The purpose of this study is to find out if the quality of textbooks matches the requirements of good English textbooks and to make it easier for teachers as textbook users to check the textbooks used today. Based on the seven aspects of the assessment, it can be concluded that the textbook "<em>Bahasa Inggris</em> Work in Progress" is Quite good but not highly recommended as the total score is 108 (under 110). Based on the analysis of goals and approaches, the selected textbook meets the teaching program. ChatGPT (Generative Pre-Training Transformer), also called artificial intelligence, was developed by OpenAI. It is an artificial intelligence that many consider to disrupt the integrity of education. This research aims to describe how students use ChatGPT in English writing skills and avoid plagiarism. The method used in this research is qualitative, and the data collection techniques are observation, interviews, and analysis of test results. Freshmen of the Agricultural Department have English proficiency problems, among others, English in their grammar and vocabulary. The lesson material in school or university does not meet the student’s needs. The students feel insecure about their skills. The students are not motivated to learn English because they think it is difficult and do not use it much daily. English is not their mother tongue, so they are not confident in conversation. The students also still lack vocabulary and grammar. In this research, a descriptive qualitative technique was applied. The research focused on reading strategies and reading comprehension in English academic journals. The participants were two lecturers from an English class at the Faculty of Agriculture at Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa University. Interviews from the lecturer’s perception were used as data collection methods. The researcher collected data on the lecturer’s opinion regarding the student’s reading abilities. The findings indicated that the students were still unable to understand English reading. Some of the obstacles faced by students in reading comprehension. The students were categorized as having low reading comprehension by lecturers’ perception that the students had some strategies in reading comprehension. Dengan berbagai factor yang mempengaruhi dan beberapa metode yang guru gunakan untuk memotivasi dan meningkatkan kegiatan belajar mengajar di kelas. Melalui metode penelitian observasi lapangan kemudian dideskripsikan dalam hasil dan pembahasan, dan wawancara singkat terhadap siswa. Peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa: Guru sebelumnya kurang memotivasi siswa untuk belajar. Guru sebelumnya kurang variative dalam menyajikan materi atau media pembelajaran. Sehingga siswa menjadi tidak tertarik pada pelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Siswa mengoperasikan <em>smartphone</em> di kelas. Siswa merasa bahwa Bahasa Inggris bukanlah bahasa mereka, sehingga bagi mereka tidaklah penting untuk dipelajari, oleh sebab itu siswa membutuhkan suasana atau kegiatan belajar yang terbaru atau inovasi baru seperti yang dilakukan oleh guru kemudian. Sehingga kemudian siswa dapat mengikuti kegiatan belajar di kelas dengan lebih efektif dan lebih baik dari sebelumnya.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong><em>Increasing the effectiveness of English learning in the classroom at SMK Perindustrian Yogyakarta Grade X</em></strong></p> <p> </p> <p><strong><em>Abstract</em></strong><em>: The aim of this study is to find out how effective the learning of English at Yogyakarta Perindustrian SMK is in class X and the efforts of teachers to improve it. Various influencing factors and some methods that teachers use to motivate and enhance teaching-learning activities in the classroom. Through the field observation research methods then described in the outcome and discussion, and brief interviews of students. The researchers concluded that: Previous teachers lacked motivation for students to learn. Previous teachers were less varied in presenting material or learning media. So, students become uninterested in English lessons. Students operate smartphones in the classroom. Students feel that English is not their language, so for them, it is not important to learn, therefore students need the latest learning atmosphere or activity or new innovations as did the teacher later. This study applies a Qualitative with descriptive research method with Braun and Clarke’s (2016) thematic analysis As the analyzing tools in this study the researcher conducted the research because of an interest In Extensive Reading, but with a focus on the brand-new teaching method caused by the Infamous covid-19, which is (OER) Online Extensive Reading, the focus is to dig deeper into The lecture’s practices in the (OER) class. In the study, five parameters from Tomlinson and Moon were used to dig deeper about the OER which is: content, process, product, affect, and learning environment, and the result was amazingly proven that ER is a Supreme method that can influence higher students to read more and more without limitation and to learn while having fun, not only influence but motivate the students without compreng each student progress to another. Collaborative writing in journalism involves individuals and organizations working together to create, publish, and disseminate information. This is applied well between the same media organization, between different organizations, in journalism schools, non-profit organizations, and independent journalists. In the world of work, this skill is also very valuable, because almost all journalism activities involve teamwork.
