This popular culture prioritizes the popularity and convenience of its users. TikTok is an application that has the function of providing entertainment to the public with short photo and video content accompanied by songs. This application is often used in spare time or when experiencing boredom during activities, so that it becomes a means of escape from various irrational thoughts caused by various problems. This study aims to analyze the use of the TikTok application as a self-defense mechanism in the form of denial. The research method used is the library research method with the data sources being papers, books and articles. The results of this study explain that a person will tend to try to satisfy his needs by avoiding something that is unpleasant and towards or approaching something that is fun. That is, if someone experiences an uncomfortable feeling when they are in a place, then that person will avoid that place or when someone is not comfortable doing something, then they will do something else to get comfortable. Using the TikTok application is something that is comfortable when someone experiences discomfort due to the problems they face. Thus, the use of the TikTok application can be a self-defense mechanism in the form of someone's denial of circumstances that make him uncomfortable.
2023-05-07T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2023 International Conference on Indigenous Psychology and Culture https://seminar.ustjogja.ac.id/index.php/icipc/article/view/676 Psychological well-being and stress on the Seafarer 2023-02-03T15:38:37+07:00 Marchelina febe l1742@lecturer.ubm.ac.id Nicholas Ryan nicholasryan627@gmail.com
During the Covid 19 pandemic, many individuals were vulnerable to stress, including workers, especially those working on the high seas (seafarer's). As happened with Indonesian crew members who work for cruise ships, based on the results of brief interviews with crew members who worked during this pandemic, they rarely returned home to meet their families. They are required to work more on the ship but are not allowed to go home to spend time with their families. On average, the crew members who work on ships do not want to take risks by recruiting new employees or staying in one place for a long time due to the COVID pandemic. They only have two choices: to continue working or change jobs and look for new jobs on land. Situations like this seem to trigger stress on the crew, which will impact their psychological well-being from the crew (Rider, 20171). This attracts attention to facilitating the crew members to become comfortable with their working environment for a long time by knowing the condition of the ship's psychological well-being. It is expected to reduce the stress level on the crew.
2023-05-07T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2023 International Conference on Indigenous Psychology and Culture https://seminar.ustjogja.ac.id/index.php/icipc/article/view/689 The Traditional to egalitarian 2023-02-22T14:17:28+07:00 Elvi Yunianti elvi.yunianti@gmail.com Teguh Wijaya Mulya teguh@staff.ubaya.ac.id Nanik Nanik nanik@staff.ubaya.ac.id
In recent decades, works of literature on fatherhood noted a transition from the traditional father’s role into a new or modern role in caregiving. The traditional role in the parenting context determines the mother as the primary caregiver and the father as the breadwinner. However, this hierarchy contrasts with the patriarchal hierarchy that sets men as the supremacy or privileged party. Gender roles are socially constructed, causing upheavals at various times and places. The famous movement named feminism, brings a significant impact on the role of men and women, including the men’s role as a father in caregiving. Objective: This paper aims to briefly review fatherhood from the global conditions and specific to the conditions of fatherhood in Indonesia from the gender role perspectives. Method: A literature search was conducted to identify the relevant studies. Result: Fatherhood in Indonesia is strongly rooted in the traditional role model conditioned by the culture, religion, and patriarchal system. While it may be too early to assume that fathers in Indonesia will also move into the modern father role, a review of the studies suggests that Indonesian fathers will be following the global trend, considering the benefits of the new role for all family members.
2023-05-07T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2023 International Conference on Indigenous Psychology and Culture https://seminar.ustjogja.ac.id/index.php/icipc/article/view/690 The meaningful life of the Makassar Bugis Tribe in Indonesia 2023-02-26T14:30:12+07:00 Nurul Hidayah nurul.hidayah@psy.uad.ac.id Pita Lova Sastri Handayani pitalova.sh@gmail.com

The purpose of this study was to describe the meaning of life for the Bugis Makassar tribe. Through this article, the development of pedagogical philosophy will be explained in both Western, Eastern, and national perspectives. Early childhood education that is seen around us is the result of the thoughts of previous philosophers and thinkers who developed in accordance with other sciences. The influence of the development of science makes early childhood education have a variety of approaches and certain methods so that learning activities become effective. Moreover, various pedagogical philosophies view children as students from different perspectives. The relationship between students and teachers also has its own dynamics. The debate over the shifting pedagogical philosophy will also be discussed. In this relationship, there are norms, expectations, and also the habits of each individual influenced by culture as part of determining satisfaction in marriage. However, achieving marital satisfaction is inseparable from external threats, one of which is infidelity. Lately, infidelity seems to be a trend that can easily be found from various backgrounds (Muhajarah. K, 2016). The development of this infidelity phenomenon, it is a sign of disharmony in a marriage relationship. To prevent this phenomenon from occurring, harmonization in marriage is needed (Sorowski et al., 2021). Harmonization can be established by having a good personal relationship between spouses. With this, the couple will be able to accept the strengths and weaknesses of the partner, be open to each other, complement each other, and be comfortable with each other so that they do not look for fulfillment of needs for other people outside of the marriage bond. The writing of this study aims to see and prove whether there is a relationship between a person's feelings of attachment and marital satisfaction, which can be one of the predictive factors of infidelity. This study aims to empirically test whether parasocial relationships in new students are determined by loneliness. This study aimed to test the proposed research hypothesis that there is a positive relationship between loneliness and parasocial relationships in new students. The sampling technique used is total sampling. The data collection method in this study used non-cognitive tests. The scale used to collect data is the parasocial relationship behavior scale and the loneliness attitude scale. The loneliness scale is compiled based on the Likert scale model. The parasocial relationship scale is compiled using the summated rating model. From the results of the validity test, these two scales are valid in content. Both scales measure all aspects/components to be measured, with a reliability coefficient on the parasocial relationship scale of 0.945 and a reliability coefficient on the loneliness scale of 0.946. The results of the hypothesis test showed that the correlation coefficient (rxy) was 0.328 with a significance value of p = 0.005 (p ≤ 0.05). From these results, it can be concluded that the hypothesis is accepted. There is a significant positive relationship between loneliness and parasocial relationships in new students.
