Abstrak

The article depicts the enhancement of literacy among elementary school students through visits to the library. Elementary schools are chosen as the venue to cultivate literacy because the aspiration is that by instilling literacy from an early age, students can develop a habit of literacy that proves beneficial for their future preparations. Various government policies implemented in elementary schools aim to advance literacy. The government is conscious of the importance of literacy for elementary school students, as a high level of education in a given country often correlates with a high level of literacy as well. Literacy encompasses four language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. One common factor supporting literacy is the presence of a library. Schools can execute library visit programs as an effort to support literacy. The library visit program constitutes a structured activity mandated for students to visit the library and actively participate in literacy-related activities. The significance of literacy is evident from its impact, which broadens perspectives and knowledge. The article also outlines a step-by-step process to foster literacy.
