Membangun Karakter Siswa Sekolah Dasar melalui Gerakan Literasi Sekolah (Gelis)

Abstrak

Currently at the elementary school level there is a lot of character degradation. The degradation appears marked by marked conflicts that arise between students. This young generation certainly will not do anything negative without a role model that they see and emulate. Because elementary school-age children are in the stage of concrete operational development. In order for students not to adopt negative things, then have an impact on their character, it is necessary to make efforts to educate children so they can make wise decisions and practice them in everyday life so that later they can make a positive contribution to the environment. One effort that can be done is to implement the School Literacy Movement (Gelis). The implementation of the literacy movement in schools includes the stages of habituation, development and learning. Teachers can invite students to do some interesting activities such as reading, writing, listening, and communicating a theme in a book. This literacy movement is strongly supported by the government as an effort to build, improve, and have a positive impact on the nation's next generation. Through this character education, it is hoped that character degradation can be overcome and the next generation of the nation is realized who are smart, critical, creative, have global insight, and have good character.
