Abstract

Culture in Indonesia is very diverse, one that can be studied through ethnomathematics is Ratu Boko Temple. Ratu Boko Temple is a historical building built during the reign of Rakai Panangkaran who was one of the descendants of the Syailendra dynasty. The aim of this study is to (1) describe the history of Ratu Boko Temple (2) examine and describe the fundamental aspects of mathematics according to Bishop. The methods used in this study are literature study, exploration, observation and documentation. Literature studies are used to obtain information related to the culture of Ratu Boko Temple, while documentation methods are used to find parts related to fundamental mathematical aspects.  The results of this research show five fundamental activities in the Ratu Boko Temple area. These activities are counting, measuring, locating, designing, and playing. The implications of the findings of fundamental activities in the Ratu Boko Temple area can be used as an alternative for local culture-based learning.
