Abstract

The research conducted aimed to establish a correlation between the interest in learning and mathematics learning outcomes among class VII students at SMP Taman Dewasa IP Tamansiswa. The study used a correlational research design and a simple random sampling technique to select 104 students as the population. The data was collected through questionnaire and documentation techniques, and analyzed using the t-test and simple linear test to establish the relationship simultaneously. The results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between interest in learning and mathematics learning outcomes. The regression equation obtained was Y=-16.847+0.890X, with a prediction error rate of 0.154 or 15.4%. The significance test value of the regression coefficient was 5.772 with a significance of 0.000. The simple correlation coefficient value was 0.839, while the r table value was 0.468, indicating that the calculated r value (0.839) > r table (0.468). The coefficient of determination value was 0.704 or 70.4%, and the correlation coefficient value was 0.839 and positive. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a positive and simultaneous relationship between interest in learning and mathematics learning outcomes. However, future studies should consider exploring other factors that affect mathematics learning outcomes besides interest in learning.
