Abstract

Students' numeracy abilities can be viewed from students' learning independence in solving the problems presented in the questions. This research aims to measure the level of student independence in solving problems in their numeracy skills in the material of forming a matrix and adding two matrices. The data collection techniques used were numeracy tests, interviews, and filling out the questionnaires given. Learning independence in students' numeracy abilities can be seen from students' activeness in analyzing the information presented, understanding problems, relating concepts to the situations presented until they are able to draw conclusions by reasoning. However, many students prioritize working on problems that have been given by relying on friends without working individually. In the results of this data collection, it was proven that students had a low level of learning independence. there is a change in the curriculum used in the matrix so that there is an update.
