Abstract

Critical thinking is an ability that every student needs to have. This research aims to analyze high school students' mathematical critical thinking abilities on exponential material. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data collection techniques used were interviews and test questions. The main instrument is the researcher himself and the supporting instrument used is one question description. The subjects of this research were four class X high school students who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The data analysis technique in this research is analyzing the answers from each subject using the guidelines of the four indicators proposed by Ennis and through interviews with the subjects. Thus, it can be concluded that high school students' mathematical critical thinking abilities in exponential material are still low. This is proven from the results of interviews that there are still many students who still do not understand the steps that must be taken to answer questions correctly and accurately.
