Abstract

Mathematical resilience is a positive attitude that students have to overcome obstacles or difficulties in learning mathematics. Students’ resilience attitudes during mathematics learning are still low, this is influenced by several influencing factors such as class conditions during learning, the methods used by teachers are not appropriate, students interest in learning mathematics is lacking and other factors. This research aims to describe the level of mathematical resilience of students at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta. This research is descriptive qualitative research. Qualitative descriptive research was used to provide an overview of students’ mathematical resilience. The samples taken in this research were four students from class XI Rekayasa Perangkat Lunak (RPL) who were chosen randomly. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling to become respondents. Data collection carried out in this research was documentation and interviews. Interviews were conducted using semi-structured interviews. The results of the research show that learning mathematics using the discovery learning model has a high impact as evidenced by a positive attitude to overcome difficulties in learning mathematics, namely persistence, willingness to learn even though experiencing difficulties in solving mathematical problems.
